Do you love to drink soda and fruit juice? Did you know that these beverages are two of the biggest causes of dental erosion? Dental erosion occurs wen the enamel of the teeth is worn away by acid. The enamel is the hard covering of the teeth that protects them. If the enamel wears off, the dentine of the teeth is exposed and the teeth may become sensitive and start to hurt.

Soft drinks and fruit juices are full of acid and can cause the enamel to wear off teeth quickly. Enamel cannot be replaced. A recent study shows that a large number of adults have extensive dental erosion as a result of drinking fruit juice and soft drinks over a long period of time.

“Water and milk are the best choices by far, not only for the good of our oral health but our overall health too,” says Dr. Carter of the British Dental Health Foundation . “Remember, it is how often we have sugary foods and drinks that causes the problem so it is important that we try and reduce the frequency of consumption.”
