When you think of a virus, you think of something that can make you sick. A virus recently found in a sewer system could actually help you feel better. The virus actually infects bacteria, including the ones that cause infections after dental procedures. The infections can sometimes be hard to treat. The virus can kill the bacteria and get rid of the infection, resulting in a fast recovery for patients.

Infections that occur after surgery are often hard to treat and bacteria can sometimes be resistant to antibiotics. The new virus may be able to kill the bacteria better than any medicine and help get rid of bacteria that are extremely hard to kill.
