It’s not secret that many people can not afford dental insurance or dental care and in some countries, dental care is considered a luxury that very few are offered. Street dentists in India are trying to change that and have begun offering their services to the poor for affordable prices.

“There are millions of poor people in this country who cannot pay for expensive dental treatment,” one street dentist said. “But they also have a right to be treated and look good. I know this is not hygienic at all but if I start using sophisticated tools, the poor man won’t come here.”

Although the practices may not be the most hygienic, those who have received cheap dental care seem fortunate and feel that the street dentists are a godsend.
