Tooth fillings are pretty common and most people have their teeth filled without any problems. A new study shows that fillings that contain BPA may cause behavior problems. More studies are needed to see if there is a direct link to the fillings and the behavior problems, but the researchers claim that there is evidence that suggests a connection.
“It’s a controversial topic in dental research, how much really does leach (from fillings) … and whether or not that would have an effect,” said Nancy Maserejian, from New England Research Institutes in Watertown, Massachusetts. “It’s generally assumed that the amounts leached are tiny.”
Dental fillings that are the same color as teeth often contain BPA and are becoming more popular, leading to a possible increase in the risk of BPA poisoning.
