Dentists have advised patients to avoid sugary drinks to help protect their teeth and avoid dental decay and other problems. They are not going to more extreme measures to stop the consumption of sugary beverages by joining with doctors in calling for a 20% sugar tax on some of the most popular beverages on the market.
Dentists are hoping that the higher tax would make people less likely to buy these drinks and make healthier, cheaper choices instead. Of course, not everyone agrees that the tax is a good idea and most people will continue to drink juices, sodas and energy drinks regardless of the tax costs.
