A historic section of Grand Rapids may be on the list of places that are planned to be demolished. The demolishing will be part of a new project that will require a nearby strip mall to be rebuilt along with an apartment complex that will include 44 apartments. “The demo’s going to be routine (because the building itself is not historic),” said Rhonda Baker, the city’s historic preservation specialist. “It’s just looking at the infill to make sure it’s compatible with the (surrounding historic district).”
