Guiding Light Mission is hoping to open a rehab facility in the Grand Rapids area, something most people would consider helpful and positive. The problem with the proposal is that the building will be built near a school. The Kelloggsville Public School district is opposing the rezoning request made by the rehab clinic.

“Our main priority is we want to make sure we maintain a safe environment for our students,” said Kelloggsville Superintendent Samuel Wright, about the facility. “We are not against their treatment, but the location for it.”

If the rehab facility is allowed to open in the location, it will be less than half of a mile from several of the school.
