If you want to take the best possible care of your teeth, there are many things you need to do. There are also several thing you should not do. Many bad habits can cause tooth decay and gum disease. The sooner you stop these habits, the better off your teeth and gums will be.
Smoking
Smoking is bad for you all around but it can destroy you teeth. Not only does it eat away at the enamel and cause stains, it can also lead to gum disease. If you smoke, it is time to stop.
Eating Ice
Ice might be refreshing and since it is made of water, you probably think it is good for you too. But the coldness of the ice can actually cause the teeth to fracture. Never bite, crunch or chew ice.
Biting Your Nails
Many people bite their nails when they are stressed. This habit can ruin your teeth. It can cause them to chip and it put bacteria and germs from your hands into your mouth.
Using Your Teeth For Tools
Teeth were meant for eating not opening bag or bottles or cutting tape and string. Too many people use their teeth as tools and could be damaging them. Make sure you are not using your teeth in a manor they weren’t meant to be used in.
Brushing Too Hard
Brushing harder won’t give you cleaner teeth. In fact, it could be harming your gums. If you brush too hard you could cut or tear your gums, which can lead to gum and tooth problems.
