A clean mouth means a healthy smile and a clean mouth requires a clean toothbrush and clean hands. While you may think that your toothbrush is clean , you may be surprised at how many types of bacteria and germs could be living on it. Nobody wants to put germs and bacteria in their mouth. Follow these tips to keep your mouth clean and happy.
Never Share
Never use anyone else’s toothbrush or allow anyone to use yours. Sharing can swap germs, disease and illnesses. Make sure your toothbrush is labeled properly so you don’t mix it up with another person’s on accident.
Wash Your Hands
Your hands can be covered in germs and if you touch your toothbrush, those germs can be spread to it. The easiest way to prevent this from happening is to wash your hands before you touch your toothbrush, floss or touch your mouth or teeth.
Rinse It
Always rinse your toothbrush before and after you use it. This will keep germs that may have gathered on your toothbrush overnight or during the day from entering your mouth. Rinsing afterwards will remove the germs that were removed during brushing and help prevent them from growing in between uses. Remember to use a rinse to clean your mouth and remove food particles after brushing.
Shake It
Shake the access water from your toothbrush. The more water and moisture on the brush, the easier and more likely germs and bacteria are to grow. You can also dry it on a clean towel.
Store it
Storing your toothbrush in a case will help keep it clean. If your toothbrush falls on the floor or in the sink without a cover it could become dirty. The cover will protect it and make it last longer.
