It can be difficult for the elderly to make it to dental appointments. Some do not have access to transportation, others may forget to write their appointment time and date down or just simply forget to go and others cannot afford it. When an elderly person goes to a nursing home to live, most assume their lives will be made easier and they will have access to basic needs, including dental care.
This isn’t always the case and some nursing home patients are not getting the dental care they need and deserve and are not even getting assistance with dental hygiene. It is difficult for most of them to make it to the dentist and many times a dentist is not available to visit the nursing home to provide dental are.
