Child and adults who suffer from autism can have a harder time at the dentist than other people. Most have sensory issues that can make lights seem brighter and noises seem louder than they do to the average person. Because many autistic people avoid the dentists, their is a need for better dental care and that can require dentists to undergo special training.
A new government grant will provide the funding for such training and help ensure that those suffering from autism have a better dental care experience and get the care they need. More grants are likely to be awarded to schools across the country for similar training and many dentists are even remodeling their offices to make them more comfortable for autistic patients.
