There has been much debate about whether or not pregnant women should have dental treatments during pregnancy. The concern comes from fear that any medications using during the treatment or the stress of the treatment could affect the unborn child or pregnancy. A recent study found that it is safe for women to undergo most types of dental procedure while pregnant.
“Our study identified no evidence to show that dental treatment with anesthetics is harmful during pregnancy, and yet so many pregnant women avoid going to the dentist,” said study author Aharon Hagai, D.M.D. “We aimed to determine if there was a significant risk associated with dental treatment with anesthesia and pregnancy outcomes. We did not find any such risk.”
