Oral cancers can be life threatening and while there are treatment options, many dentists, doctors and researchers are working to find a cause so they can work on better treatments and prevention. A recent study shows that one of the underlying causes of metastases in oral cancers could be a person’s immune response.

“There’s a unique inflammatory response with oral cancers,” explained one researcher, “because the oral cavity is quite unique in the body. A great many things are happening at the same time.”
